Mens 3's and Lds 1's need your support

Saturday at Wilsthorpe could see 2 Derby sides celebrating but for differing reasons.

The Men’s 3rd XI have already secured promotion and are now going for the league title & the Ladies 1st XI are out to secure Midlands Hockey for the section into the 2009/10 season.

The Ladies push back is at 12 noon v Players with the Men’s following at 1:30pm v Northampton Lions.

The Men’s 3’s currently hold top position on goal difference from South Notts with a +53 against +52 for S Notts.

S Notts play bottom club Worksop and Lions currently occupy the next to bottom slot so goals could be the key on Saturday.

The Ladies currently lie in 5th place and face 8th place Players in a relegation play off almost. If the ladies avoid a defeat of less than
4-0 Midlands hockey stays – this will not be an issue as we will without a shadow of a doubt win!!!!!

So as you can see 2 great games.

This will be a great opportunity to support our club. With no fixtures for the men’s 1’s, 4’s and 5’s along with the Ladies 2’s, I would hope for a good crowd for these key, almost season defining matches.

Please make the effort to come down to Wilsthorpe. Your support could be key to these players and we all want you there to enjoy the celebrations when we each achieve our goals.

Andy, sorry if I am being thick (nothing changes there then) but is it the top 6 that are staying up? by my maths, if we loose then Leicester or Kettering will move into 5th place. Is it the case that if we are in 6th then we will have to play off? Again sorry if being an ejit but I don't get it (she says scratching her head, looking to the sky for answers).

Aldridge were in danger of relegation from National league into Midlands but as of last weekend they became safe for next year.

Therefore with no relegation from National League there will be no play-offs and 6th place will stay in Midlands.

But this wont affect us as we will win Saturday anyway.
