Mens 3rd's Vs Northampton Lions, 13/12/2008

This weeks match was a 120 mile round trip to play against Northampton Lions on their new water based pitch. From the beginning it was a struggle for Derby to adapt to to the slow bouncy pitch. Quite often Northampton were able to bounce the ball over tackling sticks from Derby players. And despite camping out in Northampton's half for most of the first half Derby trailed 1-0 at half-time.

Going into the second half a tactical change was made to give Derby more fire power. Defender James Holder was moved up into the mid-field and Derby went on the attack. After several more missed opportunities the goals started to flow and the game ended as a 1-5 win to Derby Asterdale. Goal scorers this week were Sam Taylor (1), John Mann (2) & Sundeep Mann (2). Man of the match this week was jointly awarded to our central midfielders Sam Taylor & Jez Seer who were more in tune with the pitch from the beginning than most of the team.
