Mens 3rd's vs ????????, 28/02/2009

Despite the fact that the Mens 3rd team's opposition, Daventry, did not turn up on Saturday, this weekend turned out to what could eventually be the defining point in the title race. Going into the weekend we stood on 39 points, 8 points clear of 3rd place Tamworth. The automatic 3-0 victory took us up to 42 points and Tamworth's loss to South Notts meant that by Saturday night we were now 11 points clear of Tamworth and mathematically 5 points off assured promotion.

Meanwhile in form Berswell & Balsall Commons' victory on Sunday over second placed South Notts mean that South Notts still trail Derby, but have no games in hand, therefore handing Derby the opportunity to now take the title outright without having to rely on a better goal difference.

Next weekends trip to Warwick University to play Berkswell & Balsall Common will surely be one of the most important matches of the season.
