Ladies 3rds end of season report Empty Ladies 3rds end of season report

Mid April saw the end of a very long, snow disrupted, yet very enjoyable season… And yes, it was still all about the fun. Very Happy

There was another newcomer – Sam Stalley, a very strong defender and showing lots of potential in mid field. We were also delighted to see the return of Rachel Fearn from injury.

We finished the season on more than double the points of last season. After 8 weeks in mid field, Jenny Dames’s potential as CF was recognised and she is our leading goal scorer with 5 goals. The player of the match award was well distributed amongst the team over the whole season yet the leader for match awards is Izzy Scarle (even if she did forget her focals at most matches). A full breakdown of donkey awards and player of the match awards will be available on the forum shortly.

Ladies IIIs team player of the year goes to Angie White for her enthusiasm, commitment to the team, dedication and improvement to her game, her comedy moments on and off the pitch and of course her roving reporter skills (have you read her amazing match reports). She is a great asset to our team.

Ladies most improved player of the year had many nominations and this year the award went to Terri Cartman. Over the year, she has developed from defense, played with great strength in midfield and recently as a forward scored her 1st 2 goals of the season. She has frequently joined the Ladies 1st in training and it is great to see recognition of her improvement along with many of the ladies in the club.

Thank you to the whole club for the on-going support throughout the season, umpiring, coaching, lifts and cheering on the sidelines. cheers

On behalf of the team, big thank you to Dan for all his support throughout the season, coaching us on Tuesdays as well as at the game. There is no other team in our league and none that I can think of in the league above that have a dedicated team coach. Although improvement and dedication to a certain degree must come from within, Dan has shown us how to improve and still enjoy our hockey, and blimey have we improved. What Dan has also demonstrated is that in a club with so many players, we can play club hockey and include all who want to play. We frequently took 14-15 players to our games and Dan managed to show Andy a thing or two in the last game of the season with a squad of 16 players and an even, non-fragmented game for all.

Although I’m stepping down as captain this year, the fantastic news for the Ladies IIIs is that our new Captain is in place… Sara O’Donovan. On behalf of the whole team I wish Sara all the best for the exciting year to come. You have our full support, we know you’ll be ace and as always… the hockey… well it will still be all about the FUN!!!

Ladies IIIs are ace. Cool
