Sat 13 Nov - Men's 4ths vs Belper 6ths

Doh! Forgot to post a report last weekend. Well my memory of the details is a bit hazy now. We were playing Belper 6ths, unbeaten at the top of the table. For 95% of the first half, we matched them. In the 5% where we didn't, they latched mercilessly onto our errors and scored five excellent goals (three from short corners).

In the second half we began to make more constructive moves. The ball found its way out to Chris Kilburn on the right wing and down to the byeline for a cross into the D more often. The midfield - Daniel Tucker, Simon Downes, Tom Hart and Callum Rhodes - worked tirelessly. Maybe Belper lost a little of their edge. They collected two more goals, but our efforts were rewarded by a well taken consolation goal for Simon Downes. Although we had lost 7-1 we had played well and not disgraced ourselves.

Man of the match - a difficult choice in what was very much a team effort, but for scoring our first goal for a couple of weeks, my man of the match is Simon Downes.
