Mens 2nd v Corby
This was always looking like it could be a tricky game - before Christmas we scraped a 1-0 win with Corby fortunately missing a flick - so we needed to start well - and we didn't! 1st half was not good, no shape, no control but we did go a goal ahead only to concede a sloppy goal on the stroke of half time. Cue one of the Captain's more colourful half time team talks "the following team talk contains bad language (although fortunately no scenes of nudity!)" certainly not one to repeated the next time I'm coaching the Under 9's on a sunday morning...
Anyway in the 2nd half we upped the tempo (although I'd still have liked better shape) and once we went 2-1 and then 3-1 up the young Corby side went walkabout as they threw people forward to try and get back in the game and we picked them off on the break to finish up 6-1 winners. 2 Goals from Penalty corners for Tom, 1 (at last!) for Richard, and 3 (yes 3!) for Rambo who shared the Man of the Match award with Ian who marauded tirelessly down the right hand side of the pitch and was at the heart of most of the good play in the 2nd half.
Anyway a good win in the end - we're still up there (though the others have games in hand they're likely to win) and travel to Ashbourne next week for another key game (although to be fair they're all key now!)
