Mens 3rd team's 13 game winning streak comes to an end
Men's 3rd team vs Tamworth, 21/03/2009
With promotion assured after last weeks result Derby travelled to Tamworth this week with the aim to at least come away with some points to keep ahead in the title battle. Knowing that Tamworth was a tough opposition Derby started well but unfortunately nerves took over as the game drew on. Time after time Derby would try to hit the ball through the middle rather neat passing manouvres. However the Derby team could be forgiven for some of this as Tamworth's tackling manouvres were, as one of Coventry Sikh Unions' players had once told me, agricultural! Despite Tamworth's tackling being more reminiscent of a fencing match the Derby players must be commended for not rising to it and just walking away. Fortunately this helped Derby in some ways as it was the Tamworth players who lost their rag with the umpires, one even receiving a yellow card.
In the second half it was through one of these moments of rage at the umpires that Derby managed put pressure on Tamworth and get a short corner from which Matt Brennan scored. Unfortunately the luxury of being ahead was short lived as Tamworth scored from a short corner. And then with 3 minutes to go Tamworthscored again after a succession of short corners. And so unfortunately Tamworth won 2-1.
Man of the match this week unfortunately can not be named for incriminating reasons. Derby now lead the table by only one goal from South Notts. Next week is the final game of the season with a 1.30pm start at home against Northampton Lions. With South Notts playing bottom placed Worksop next week Derby need to win by at least 6 goals to have a good chance of winning the league.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering where/when you guys are playing on Sat - if it's at home, I may come down to watch, as not playing due to injury and back for some of the weekend...
Any info would be much appreciated.
Cheers
