MENS 4THS V NORTH NOTTS 5THS 3RD OCT 2009

First game of the season saw us return to North Notts to play the side that ruined our unbeaten campaign in the last game of last season. On that day we started poorly and never managed to raise our game. This time it was a different story. Right from the start we moved the ball quickly and accurately and camped in the NN half. The missing link was the opening goal as lots of chances were made but squandered. We finally broke through after about 20 minutes with a crisp shot from the edge of the D into the bottom corner by Matt Hexter. That seemed to help us to relax, we became much more composed, the final pass much more accurate and the chances converted. At half time we were 4-0 to the good. Second half we were even better. Some of our goals were brilliant. We ran out 11-0 winners with Anthony Crooks scoring 7 (he wants to keep that top scorer thing), Billy Morton 2 and Matt Hexter 2. I think on the day we played very well but we are likely to come up against better opposition in this division. It will be important to keep a consistent side as we did last season. This was the first outing for some of the team, Chris Kilburn had returned from holiday late Friday night. He is excused for not getting to grips with the new rules but if he hits it into the D direct again he 's in the 5ths.
