Mens 2nd - No chance (away against Nuneaton) Empty Mens 2nd - No chance (away against Nuneaton)

This weeks 2nd team fixture was away against Nuneaton. This away fixture is notorious for questionable umpire calls.

A Derby 2nd team that only had 2 actual 2nd team players and mainly 3rd and 4th team players called up to support this week was a challenge in itself.

The team talk was not that hard in all fairness. Damage limitation against an established side was the only real hope. I had set a target not to lose in double figures given the back foot we had prior to the push.

All the players were keen to enjoy the fixture and not one looked out of place. Some spells of good passing between the Derby boys did not provide at least a deserved goal throughout the fixture.

Dan continued showing good form in saving a first half flick and multiple shots on goal.

The match report is short this week given that the chance of a competitive match or win was killed when only 37 players were available for 4 teams. Thanks to all the guys who stepped up and continued to fight in true Derby spirit throughout the game.

Result 6-0 loss, at least 2 of these was cheap goals and a third a questionable umpire call.

Man of the Match: Everyone who turned up and played! Thanks guys
Dick of the Day: Ant Crooks, missing one of our limited chances on goal.

This has given Loughborough Sharks the chance to jump us in the table to place us in relegation by goal difference. Memories of last season are at the forefront of my mind as we face Loughborough next week with a chance to switch back. Here is hoping a regular 2nd team can be formed.

Polite reminder to all club players,
Please respond to calls of availability by Tuesday latest when asked to play. At present teams are not being fixed until Friday nights and this is causing far to much extra chasing by all the captains and leading to fixtures being cancelled at the last minute. Cheers!
