Ladies 1st XI march on with win No 17
A 4pm start in conditions that would have suited Sir Ranolf Finnes with temperatures down to around –3 Derby continued their impressive march onwards towards the anticipated league success.
With again a full squad available including the returning Tash this was another tricky game that was put away with style.
Wulfric are a dangerous team and put the Derby defence under some pressure early on but with Centre Back Zoe in majestic form all threats were snubbed out with some ease.
Again it took some time to score the 1st goal but the patience and calmness of the team is showing just how much they are progressing and it was Taran who settled the nerves with a close range strike to start the scoring at 1-0.
As chance after chance began to go astray in the very cold conditions it felt like we would struggle to put this team away but an amazing goal from Ali (I believe her 1st of the season) and another from goal machine Anna (40 for the season) saw derby run out 3-0 winners to continue their 100% record.
Coach Taylor Commented:
It was a bitterly cold day out there and we found ourselves up against an awkward opposition, but our strength shone through today again. Great performances from Zoe, Val and Chrisi at the back enabled our midfield to work its magic and create chance after chance for the front line.
Once again I was able to change a few things around with Donna playing no fewer than 4 positions and showing just what a utility player she is adapting to the changes brilliantly and looking very composed and collected.
Saturday sees another awkward fixture away at Rolls Royce, which again we must target to win.
As a foot note my man of the match on Saturday would have undoubtedly gone to both Zoe and Val who didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon.

We did remember to do Player of the Match before we left - Zoe won by quite a lot of votes!
