Mens 4th v Beeston 7ths

Well this week the mens 4ths took on the only team in the league who hadn't dropped any points and have scored at least 6 goals in there previous 2 games although Beeston were slightly weakened. Derby were weakened even more. With 3 players called up to the thirds and 1 player unable to play with a bad bad chest infection we were down to 7 players on Saturday morning with some frantic ringing around and persuading of 5th player to play 2 games and injuried players to play we did get upto 10 players.

Derby fought hard and at the halftime break were only trialing by 2 goals, although Derby didn't have any real chances in the 1st half and plyed about 20 minutes with only 9 players as 1 of the youngsters knee gave in and was look after by some of the first teams players until he felt ready to come back on the pitch.

In the second half we fought equally as hard the defense of Pete Wright, Paul Bradley, Rob Halford and Dave Young work really hard and weathered a lot of pressure a long with goalkeeper Brian Mills. The midfield af Craig Murdie, Carl Wren, Chris Kilburn and Billy Morten played there part in defending and also in the various attacks. but by 3/4 through the game we had conceded a further 3 goals but after serveral attacks we eventually scored a goal by Rob Halford. We held out conceding another goal until about 7 minutes from time but a would say the goal of the game came in the closing minutes when Chris Kilburn pick up the ball just in side the opposition half and ran to the D where when he shot there was 4 or 5 Derby players and only 1 or 2 defenders and there keeper. He fired a perfect shot into the goal.

Final score for the 3rd out of the 4 league games this season is Derby Asterdale 2 Beeston 6.
next week we are away to the weaker of the Belper teams so perhaps we might get a better score line and perhaps even a draw or win. and by and by the way the 10th player was myself shroved upfront.
