Mens 1st V Kettering

With tempertures dropping below freezing and Andy Lee wearing the entire contents of his wardrobe we were ready for the game to begin. Once again we started the match off strongly, amazingly enough since we've started games strongly we have stopped leaking early goals and started to score some of our own. So, surprisingly were rewarded with an early goal. This time a goal for Mark from a driven long corner by Dave. Both teams counter attacked quickly, whether this was to do with the cold weather or not is debatable, but i did lead to open game with chances their for either side if they were creative enough. We created chances but couldnt put them away with Ian and Neil both narrowly missing the top corner. Mark also showed his defensive skills by clearing a goal of the line. Pity it was Andy Knight's shot he was stopping. Kettering then started applying some pressure of their own. To counter this we put in a Corbyesque display of having 10 men behind the ball and inviting the oppostion to break through if they could. With many attemts they failed to do so but Ross, our ever the optimist left back, thought the game would end as a draw. Fortunately for us with less than 2 minutes to go Andy Knight broke clear squared it to Martin who finished off the game with his first goal of the season. Final Score Kettering 0 Derby Asterdale 2
