3 POINTS CLOSER TO MIDLANDS

Off to Belper we went, heads held high and confidence oozing. Obviously a big game as we had plenty of support and took an early lead through Jan. However as usual we decided to make things interesting and sat back until Belper equalised. This works each time to give us the proverbial kick in the pants and the rest of the 1st half was ours with 2 more goals from Jan and a brilliant penalty corner conversion fronm Beth.

Half time saw us trying to calm down and get back to our normal pattern but on the whole this was not our finest hour, just a good, gritty result. Clare(grandad slippers), having moaned about having nothing to do in the first half now decided to dominate down the left even getting into the D and earning a penalty corner!! Lucy capped another great performance with a goal and Collette was also rewarded for her hard graft with a good strike, ably assisted over the line by the diving Tracey. Belper pulled back a goal with an excellent penalty corner conversion but were never going to trouble us at this point. Good effort across the team saw many players receive MOM votes but this went to Jan for her graft and hat-trick.

Thanks to Paul for umpiring (the first of his 3 games of the day) In the words of Caroline: "Next week is the one girls!!!!!"

Though this was a great result for us, the result of the day must go to Rachel and the third team who beat a strong Staveley team to cap a great season and gain promotion to Div 2. Well done to all of you. Champions each and every one.

Well done on another blistering win. You are looking good for this Saturday - it would be so amazing to have 2 of our ladies teams promoted as champs this season and I absolutely know that you guys can do it.
