MENS 4THS VS PLAYERS 4THS 17 OCT 2009
Another convincing victory for the 4th team against 10 man Players. This could have finished 20-0 had the Players goalkeeper not been in brilliant form. At the other end Nick Boulton did not have a touch all game.
Kev Emery opened the scoring with a sweetly struck penalty corner after about 5 minutes, with a further 4 goals scored by half time. The final score of 12-0 included 4 for Matt Hexter, 3 for Billy Morton including one of his trademark dribbles around three and a poke in from two inches, 2 for Stuart Norman and one each for Oliver Halford and Tom Fitchett.
Sometimes in games like this it is difficult to maintain form because everyone wants to score, but our style of play was always good, the easy ball nearly always on and some quality with the final pass.
We have probably met the weaker of the opposition so far in this division. Next week will be a true test of our ability against Beeston. It is obvious that some clubs like ourselves are struggling to fill their team sheets. Next week we have at least 6 unavailable for the 4ths which of course will have a knock on affect with the 5ths. If anyone out there knows a hockey player let us/me know. Nigel, I hear you may be looking for action, give me a ring.
