MENS 4THS VS BARTON 4THS 21ST NOVEMBER 2009
I've heard a recording so I must first apologise to everyone who had to endure the 4th team choir last night. Matt Hexter did the right thing by lip syncing.
As for the hockey this week we were entertained by a useful Barton side in cold driving rain. We're more of a sunshine on our backs sort of team and it took us quite some time to get into our stride. The first half seemed to be played mostly in midfield with few chances created at either end. From a half chance we opened the scoring through Stuart Norman after good persistence from Anthony Crooks. The latter part of the half saw us start to dominate possession but still unable to create clear chances.
A bit more pressure from Barton at the beginning of the second half saw our centre forward in defence again. I hope that I never have to mention this again this season. 2 goals from Matt Bunker (a dark horse for that trophy) some time during the game made us much more comfortable and we started to set up camp in Barton's 22 (or is it 25). Our last goal coming from Anthony Crooks, a one handed (left) sweep obviously learnt from watching Jez Dawson at close quarters. Nice to see him back on the score sheet, he had a very good game. Rumour has it he will be leaving us at the end of the season to join the British sprint squad.
4-0 and still unbeaten. Two of the top four to come, this could get interesting. A few changes to this weeks team, thanks to Paul Neilson and Dalraj for stepping in at the last minute. Keep up the good work lads.
