Mens 2nds v Buxton

Can't remember many times (if ever) when a 7-1 win has been quite so disappointing but this was not a good game by any stretch as our loyal group of 3 supporters confirmed after the game. Following last weeks exciting encounter and ahead of next weeks crucial top of the table clash with Leicester University we needed a good workout but instead met Buxton who played with 11 men and no keeper which seemed to completely throw us off our game.
The captain vented his frustration at half time that we seemed to be insisting on not trying to take the last man's head off if he was stupid enough to decide to stand there without kit on - this rule was brought in to encourage sides 2-1 down with 5 minutes to go to take off their keeper and go for the result not to have a defender standing in the goal without kit on - cruel as it sounds maybe it will need someone to get seriously injured before they change this rule back. Anyway on a positive note it does show how far the team has come that collectively we were not happy with our standard of play so the main thing is to move on and look forward to the challenge of the league leaders next week.
