Mens 1sts V Wellingborough
The 1sts came under their first real challenge of the season yesterday. The bad thing is that, though not deserving to lose we did 4-3. The game started with the umpires deciding that any stick tackle preventing a shot would be a penalty stroke, which if this rule would have been carried out we would have drawn this match. But, we could and should have won this match without the umpires help. We were not helped by Nick getting yellow carded, who disguised his anger towards a Wellingbourogh player extremley well by saying what he'd like to do to that player whilst standing 5 metres from the umpire.
Wellingbourough took an early lead but we struck back straight away with a goal from Will Lanoe. However, Wellingborough came back hard and took a 3-1 lead. Determination on our part brought us back level with goals by Andy Knight and Dave Ellis. Unfortunately, on our part Wellingbourgh earned themselved a penalty stroke when a goalbound was blocked by Drew's chest.
Excuse the brief match report, but being told to man mark a player and not pay attention to what's going on, makes it very difficult to recall the events of the match.
