After last weeks defeat this was a game we could not afford to lose. Fortunately we were up to the task and succeeded in securing a 3-2 victory. For the second time in 2 weeks we started the game strongly and deservedly took the lead through Ross. This goal came from a short corner which was slipped into the path of Ross by Dave. Ross then shocked the whole team by not only keeping the ball on the floor, but also hitting an unstoppable shot into the far corner of the goal. Ashbourne reacted by scoring a goal of their own. The goal was slighty fortunate, as Chris decided the best option was to leave ball. Unfortunately for us it rebounded off the post into the path of their striker who made it 1-1. A defensive collision between Drew and Chris let the same striker manage to score another goal. Then the same striker who had scored 2 goals got yellow carded for, in the official terms, abusive language. During the sin bin, we thought we'd scored the goal that brought us level. However it was disallowed because the umpire decided our free hit wasn't a free hit. This did not knock us off our stride and Ross put in his 2nd of the game. This time a deflection into the top corner. With 2 minutes to go we got a short corner. This time we reverted to the usual straight strike and Dave scored to put us in the lead. A tense last couple of minutes resulted in an Ashbourne short corner. First attempt they attempted to slip it for a strike but Drew's foot got in the way. Attempt 2 was the straight strike, this was going goalbound until a deflection wide by me kept the score at 3-2. Then the final whistle blew.
